Heavy duty steel bar grating offers a greater strength-to-weight ratio than other grating materials to withstand heavy loads such as forklift or truck traffic. All heavy duty metal gratings meet the standards and load tables in ANSI/NAAMM MGB 53200.
Heavy duty steel gratings have different bearing bar spacing ranging from 15/16" to 2-3/8". And the bearing bars are thicker than those used for standard steel grating. Commonly, the crossbar spacings of heavy duty steel grids are 2" and 4".
Because heavy duty bar gratings are typically in more severe service, it is highly recommended that all open ends be trim or load banded. The welded band bar helps distribute these loads and minimizes potential panel distortion.
