At each intersection of the load flat steel and the crossbar, it shall be fixed by welding, riveting or pressure locking.
Pressure resistance welding is preferred for welding steel gratings, and arc welding can also be used.

The spacing between load flat steel bars and cross bars can be determined by the supplier and purchaser based on design requirements. For industrial platforms, it is recommended that the distance between load flat steel bars should not be greater than 40mm, and the distance between crossbars should not be greater than 165mm.
The end of the load-bearing flat steel should be edged with flat steel of the same specifications as the load-bearing flat steel. In special occasions, section steel can be used or the edges can be directly wrapped with edge plates, but the cross-sectional area of the edge plates must not be less than the cross-sectional area of the load-bearing flat steel. The welding height shall be single-sided fillet welding with a welding height not less than the thickness of the load-bearing flat steel, and the weld length shall not be less than 4 times the thickness of the load-bearing flat steel.
When the edge plate does not bear load, it is allowed to weld four load-bearing flat steels at intervals, but the spacing shall not be greater than 150mm. When the edge plate is under load, interval welding is not allowed and must be fully welded. The end plates of stair treads must be fully welded on one side. The edge plates running in the same direction as the load-bearing flat steel must be welded to each cross bar. If the cuts or openings in the steel grating are equal to or larger than 180mm, they should be edged. If the stair treads have leading edges, they must run through the entire tread.
