Technical requirements for secondary welding of hot dip galvanised steel grating

At present, hot dip galvanised steel grating is the most common anti-corrosion and anti-rust method in the steel grating industry, because the zinc layer can form a sealed protective layer on the surface of the steel grating, and it also has a good cathodic protection effect. Be careful of being scratched, the cathodic protection of the zinc layer itself can also protect the iron flat iron from being corroded by air.

The hot dip galvanised steel bar grating can effectively protect the micro-cracks caused by the cut and cold working of the sheet and the zinc burn-out area near the weld, preventing rust from starting from here. In the secondary welding of steel grating, the existence of zinc layer brings certain difficulties to the welding of hot dip galvanised steel bar grating. The melting point of zinc is about 420℃, and the volatilization temperature is 908℃, which is not conducive to welding. It evaporates when ignited. The volatilization and oxidation of zinc can lead to pores, lack of fusion and cracks, and even affect the arc stability. Among them, welding cracks, pores and slag inclusion are the most important problems.

When arc welding is used to weld hot dip galvanised steel bar grating, the zinc layer near the molten pool is oxidized to ZnO under the action of arc heat and evaporates, forming a large amount of smoke and dust. The main component of this fume is ZnO, which has a great stimulating effect on the respiratory organs of workers. Therefore, good ventilation measures must be taken during welding. Under the same welding specification, the amount of smoke and dust generated when welding with titanium oxide type electrode is lower, while the amount of smoke and dust generated when welding with low-hydrogen type electrode is larger.
