There are three process parameters affecting the effect of steel grating: grid pitch, flow velocity through grid and head loss.
(1) Grating pitch
That is, the distance between two adjacent grid bars. If the steel grating spacing is greater than 40mm, it is a coarse steel grid, if the grid spacing is between 20 and 40mm, it is a medium steel grid, and if the grid spacing is less than 20mm, it is a fine steel grid. Under normal circumstances, the slag intercepted by the crude steel grid is not too much, only some very large pollutants, but it can effectively protect the normal operation of the medium steel grid. The Sinosteel grille plays a major role in intercepting the slag, most of the slag will be intercepted by the Sinosteel grille, and the fine steel grille will further intercept the remaining slag.
(2) Flow velocity across the grid
The flow rate of sewage in the channel before the grid is generally controlled at 0.4-0.8m/s, and the flow rate through the steel grid is generally controlled at 0.6-1.0m/s. The flow velocity through the grid should not be too large, otherwise the soft grid slag that should be intercepted will be washed away. At the same time, the flow velocity through the grid should not be too small. If the velocity across the grid is lower than 0.6m/s, the velocity in the channel in front of the grid may be lower than 0.4m/s, and sand particles with larger particle size in the sewage may be deposited in the channel in front of the grid.
(3) Head loss
The head loss of sewage passing through the steel grating is related to the velocity of the grid, generally between 0.2-0.5m. If the water head is lost across the grid, the water level difference before and after the steel grid increases. At this time, it is possible that the amount of water passing through the grid has increased, and it is more likely that the steel grid is partially blocked. If the water head loss across the grid decreases, it means that the flow velocity of the national exhibition decreases. At this time, attention should be paid to the deposition of sand in the channel in front of the grid.
